Searchlivio Documentation

Everything you need to understand AI search visibility, how Searchlivio works, and how to get the most from the platform — whether you're just getting started or exploring advanced features.

Introduction to Searchlivio

Searchlivio is an AI Search Visibility and Optimization platform designed to help brands, marketers, and agencies understand how they appear in AI-generated search results — and what they can do to improve.

When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, or another AI assistant a question about your industry, your brand may or may not be mentioned in the response. Unlike traditional search engines where you can check your ranking on a results page, AI search works differently: answers are synthesized, conversational, and often cite only a handful of brands or sources.

Searchlivio was built to address this shift. The platform helps you:

  • Track your AI visibility — See whether your brand is being mentioned, recommended, or cited across major AI platforms.
  • Analyze competitor presence — Understand which competitors appear in AI answers where you don't, and why they might be favored.
  • Discover optimization opportunities — Identify specific, actionable steps you can take to improve your chances of being included in AI-generated responses.
  • Plan and measure improvements — Organize your optimization work and track whether changes lead to better visibility over time.
Who is Searchlivio for?

Searchlivio is designed for marketing teams, SEO professionals, brand managers, content strategists, and agencies who want to understand and improve their presence in AI-powered search experiences. You don't need technical expertise to get started.

Getting started

To begin using Searchlivio, sign up for early access at /login. Once you have an account, you'll be guided through the initial setup process, which involves entering your brand's website, selecting relevant topics or queries to track, and optionally adding competitors you'd like to monitor.

Understanding AI Visibility

AI visibility refers to whether and how your brand appears when someone asks an AI assistant a question related to your products, services, or industry. It's a fundamentally different concept from traditional search engine rankings.

How AI visibility differs from traditional search rankings

In traditional search, your website occupies a specific position on a results page. You can measure this as a rank (position 1, 2, 3, etc.) and track it over time. AI search works differently:

  • Synthesized answers: AI assistants generate a single, conversational response rather than a list of links. Your brand is either mentioned within that response or it isn't.
  • Context-dependent: The same question phrased slightly differently may produce a different answer with different brands mentioned. AI visibility is probabilistic, not deterministic.
  • Multi-platform: Different AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot) may give different answers to the same question, meaning your visibility can vary across platforms.
  • Source-influenced: AI models draw on training data, web content, and sometimes real-time search results. The content you publish, how it's structured, and how authoritative it appears all influence whether you're included.

Why AI visibility matters

As more people use AI assistants to research products, compare options, and make decisions, the brands that appear in those AI-generated answers gain a meaningful advantage. If a potential customer asks "What's the best tool for X?" and your competitor is mentioned but you aren't, that's a missed opportunity you may never see in your traditional analytics.

AI visibility doesn't replace traditional SEO — it complements it. Brands that perform well in both traditional and AI search are better positioned to capture attention across the full spectrum of how people discover and evaluate products today.

What Searchlivio tracks

Searchlivio monitors your brand's presence across AI platforms for the queries and topics you care about. This includes tracking whether your brand is mentioned, how prominently it appears, which competitors show up alongside you (or instead of you), and how your visibility changes over time.

Understanding AI Search Optimization

AI Search Optimization is the practice of improving your brand's likelihood of being mentioned, recommended, or cited in AI-generated search responses. While the field is still emerging, several principles have become clear.

Core principles

  • Authority and trust signals: AI models tend to favor brands and sources that are widely cited, well-reviewed, and considered authoritative in their space. Building genuine authority through quality content, earned media, and industry recognition matters.
  • Clear, structured content: Content that is well-organized, uses clear headings, answers specific questions directly, and provides factual information is more likely to be picked up by AI models. Structured data (like FAQ schema) can also help.
  • Comprehensive coverage: Brands that publish thorough, helpful content across a range of relevant topics tend to have better AI visibility than those with thin or narrow content.
  • Comparison and category presence: AI answers frequently reference comparison pages, "best of" lists, and category overviews. Having your brand represented in these contexts — both on your own site and on third-party sites — can improve your chances of being mentioned.
  • Freshness and accuracy: Keeping your content up to date and factually accurate helps maintain visibility, especially on platforms that incorporate real-time web data.

What AI Search Optimization is not

AI Search Optimization is not about gaming or manipulating AI models. There are no guaranteed tricks to force an AI to mention your brand. Instead, it's about ensuring your brand's online presence is strong, clear, and comprehensive enough that AI models naturally include you when generating relevant answers.

Good to know

Many of the practices that improve AI visibility — publishing helpful content, building authority, using clear structure — also benefit traditional SEO. Investing in AI Search Optimization often strengthens your overall search presence.

GEO vs AEO vs Traditional SEO

As AI search has grown, new terminology has emerged to describe different optimization approaches. Here's a clear breakdown of the key terms and how they relate to each other.

Approach Full Name Focus Goal
Traditional SEO Search Engine Optimization Organic search rankings on Google, Bing, etc. Rank higher in traditional search results pages
AEO Answer Engine Optimization Featured snippets, voice search, and direct answers Be the source that search engines pull answers from
GEO Generative Engine Optimization AI-generated responses from LLM-powered platforms Be mentioned or recommended in AI-synthesized answers

How they overlap

These three approaches are not mutually exclusive. In practice, they share many of the same foundational tactics: creating high-quality content, building authority, using structured data, and answering real user questions clearly. The difference lies in where and how the results appear.

  • Traditional SEO focuses on earning a position in a list of search results.
  • AEO focuses on being the direct answer to a query, often in a featured snippet or voice response.
  • GEO focuses on being included in the narrative, synthesized response that an AI model generates.

Where Searchlivio fits

Searchlivio primarily operates in the GEO space — helping you understand and improve your visibility in AI-generated answers. However, because the underlying optimization principles overlap significantly with AEO and traditional SEO, many of the insights and recommendations Searchlivio provides will benefit your broader search strategy as well.

A practical note

You don't need to choose between SEO, AEO, and GEO. The most effective approach is to build a strong content and authority foundation that serves all three. Searchlivio helps you identify the specific gaps in your AI visibility so you can prioritize the improvements that matter most.

How AI Visibility Analysis Works

Searchlivio's core analysis engine monitors how your brand appears across AI search platforms for the queries and topics you've chosen to track. Here's an overview of the process.

Step 1: Define what to track

When you set up your Searchlivio account, you provide your brand's website and select the queries, topics, or questions that matter to your business. These are the prompts that Searchlivio will monitor across AI platforms. You can also add competitor brands to track alongside your own.

Step 2: Monitor AI responses

Searchlivio queries major AI platforms — including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and others — using your tracked queries. It then analyzes the responses to determine whether your brand is mentioned, how it's described, and which other brands appear in the same context.

Step 3: Score and categorize

Based on the analysis, Searchlivio assigns visibility indicators to help you understand your standing:

  • Present: Your brand is mentioned in the AI response for a given query.
  • Partial: Your brand is mentioned in some contexts or on some platforms, but not consistently.
  • Missing: Your brand does not appear in the AI response, even though the query is relevant to your business.

These indicators are aggregated into an overall Brand Visibility Score that gives you a high-level view of your AI search presence.

Step 4: Track changes over time

Searchlivio monitors your visibility on an ongoing basis, so you can see trends — whether your visibility is improving, declining, or holding steady. This is especially useful for measuring the impact of optimization work you've done.

Important context

AI responses are inherently variable. The same question asked at different times or phrased slightly differently may produce different results. Searchlivio's analysis reflects patterns and trends rather than a single, fixed ranking. Think of your visibility score as a directional indicator, not an absolute metric.

Understanding Competitor Insights

One of the most valuable aspects of AI visibility analysis is understanding not just where you stand, but where your competitors stand — and why they might be appearing in AI answers where you aren't.

What competitor insights show you

When you add competitors to your Searchlivio account, the platform tracks their AI visibility alongside yours for the same set of queries. This allows you to see:

  • Share of voice: How often each competitor is mentioned relative to you across your tracked queries.
  • Head-to-head comparisons: For each specific query, which brands are present, partially present, or missing.
  • Competitor strengths: Patterns in where competitors consistently appear — which can reveal content strategies or authority signals that are working for them.
  • Your gaps: Queries where competitors are mentioned but you are not, highlighting specific opportunities for improvement.

How to use competitor insights

Competitor data is most useful when it informs your optimization strategy. Here are some practical ways to use it:

  1. Identify content gaps: If a competitor appears for a query like "best tools for X" and you don't, examine what content they have on that topic that you might be missing.
  2. Study their approach: Look at how competitors structure their content, what topics they cover, and how they position themselves. This can inform your own content strategy.
  3. Prioritize your efforts: Focus on the queries where the gap between you and your competitors is largest and the business impact is highest.
  4. Track competitive shifts: Monitor whether competitors are gaining or losing visibility over time, which can signal changes in their strategy or in AI model behavior.
Keep in mind

Competitor insights are meant to inform your strategy, not to encourage copying. The goal is to understand the landscape and find your own path to stronger AI visibility based on your unique strengths and positioning.

Interpreting Optimization Opportunities

Searchlivio doesn't just show you where you stand — it helps you understand what to do about it. The platform identifies optimization opportunities based on your visibility data, competitor analysis, and established best practices for AI search optimization.

How opportunities are identified

Optimization opportunities are generated by analyzing patterns in your visibility data:

  • Missing presence: Queries where your brand is absent but competitors are present suggest content or authority gaps you can address.
  • Partial visibility: Queries where you appear on some platforms but not others may indicate inconsistencies in your content or how different AI models interpret your brand.
  • Content structure issues: If your content exists but isn't being picked up by AI models, structural improvements (better headings, FAQ sections, clearer answers) may help.
  • Competitive patterns: When competitors consistently outperform you for certain types of queries, the platform can suggest category-level improvements.

Understanding priority levels

Opportunities are categorized by estimated impact to help you focus your efforts:

  • High impact: Opportunities that address significant visibility gaps on high-value queries. These are typically the most important to act on first.
  • Medium impact: Opportunities that can improve your visibility meaningfully but may address less critical queries or require more effort.
  • Low impact: Smaller improvements that contribute to your overall visibility but are less urgent.

Types of recommendations

Common optimization recommendations include:

  • Creating comparison or "best of" content for queries where you're missing
  • Adding structured data (like FAQ schema) to key pages
  • Publishing comprehensive guides on topics where competitors have stronger coverage
  • Improving the clarity and specificity of product or service descriptions
  • Building authority through third-party mentions, reviews, and industry content

Troubleshooting & Support

If you're experiencing issues or have questions about using Searchlivio, this section covers common questions and how to get help.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my visibility score change between checks?

AI responses are inherently variable. Different AI platforms may update their models, incorporate new data, or generate slightly different answers over time. Small fluctuations in your visibility score are normal. Focus on trends over weeks rather than day-to-day changes.

Why am I "missing" for a query I think I should appear in?

There are several possible reasons: your content may not be comprehensive enough on that topic, competitors may have stronger authority or more relevant content, or the AI model may simply not have encountered or prioritized your content for that particular query. The optimization opportunities section of your dashboard can help you identify what to improve.

How often is my visibility data updated?

Searchlivio monitors your tracked queries on a regular basis. The exact frequency depends on your plan. You'll see updated data reflected in your dashboard as new checks are completed.

Can I track queries in languages other than English?

Multilingual analysis is on the Searchlivio roadmap. Currently, the platform is optimized for English-language queries. Support for additional languages will be announced as it becomes available.

I made changes to my content. How long until I see results?

There's no guaranteed timeline. AI models update at different intervals, and it can take time for content changes to be reflected in AI-generated responses. Continue monitoring your visibility over the following weeks to assess the impact of your changes.
